Traumatology Services International provides integrated treatment interventions including specialized treatment and programmes. The interventions utilized are tailored to the specific needs of the patient.

They are not confined to the mental and emotional consequences and symptoms only, of trauma. Rather the patient's overall wellness status is addressed and appropriate interventions made to ensure restoration, balance and OPTIMAL functionality is achieved.

Traumatology Services International subscribes to a far broader concept and definition of what constitutes trauma. Its research and experience has shown, for example, that work related occurrences such as loss of a job, or divorce very often present with exactly the same reactions and symptoms as death of a loved one or violent crime related traumatic occurrences.

Its treatment interventions and modalities used have proved to be extremely effective in the short and medium term particularly, based on patient follow-up studies. Ongoing, long-term studies are also indicating encouraging and positive trends and results.

Coupled with its own development programmes, constant monitoring of international developments in trauma treatment ensures that Traumatology Services International uses the best and most up-to-date and effective treatment approaches available.

Treatment services are provided for private individuals and also for employees. Traumatology Services International has a number of corporate clients for which it provides trauma intervention services.

What Exactly is Trauma?

Trauma goes way beyond the popular idea that most people have of what it is. Essentially any event that severely impairs the way we usually cope and in which there is an element of ‘fatalness' or an irrevocable conclusion is TRAUMA. It can affect us physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually or in any combination of these.

How To Know If Trauma has Affected YOU

Any of the following major symptoms are indicators that the way you usually cope has been severely impaired.

Physical conditions that are not directly related to any physical injury sustained in the event e.g. profuse perspiration; allergy eruption; chronic nausea etc.

Emotional conditions e.g. the experiencing of fear; anger; anxiety; grief etc.

Mental conditions e.g. feelings of hopelessness; isolation; confusion etc. Spiritual conditions e.g. belief system doubt/rejection/guilt; meaning loss etc.

Why it is Important to Obtain Proper Professional Help

The sooner proper professional intervention is started, the quicker and better your ability to function optimally - physically, emotionally, mentally and also spiritually - can be restored. Symptoms are eliminated or reduced markedly to the point that they are no longer overwhelming or invasive. Trauma Can Be Insidious. The effects of trauma are not always apparent and may be dormant. Frequently, symptoms are not always directly associated with a trauma that has been experienced.

Proper, professional traumatological assessment and intervention takes care of trauma effectively and efficiently.

Of importance too, to clients is that TSI does not use volunteers in the provision of services. Unfortunately there has been a tendency in South Africa to consider the treatment of non pathological trauma as less worthy of proper intervention than physical trauma.
